Having a Community | Richmond, Va.

Fellow photographers!

New, experienced, or old! This post is close to my heart. Regardless what you are passionate about, it is important to have a group of people that you can go to on a consistent basis. I have a handful of groups that are related to photography that I love! We talk about anything under the sun but mostly our love of photography.

These groups are SO helpful and they are women just like me. Recently, I attempted a newborn shoot with my boyfriends 7 day old niece! Let’s just say it’s not my thing….and that’s okay. I had great pictures but I wasn’t achieving the look I wanted. I instantly posted to the groups and asked for guidance and advice. These ladies gave me ideas and knowledge I didn’t have. One of the biggest disservices we can do for our business and love of photography is say ” I don’t need any help” or “I am already where I want to be”. We can always grow and these groups help me be a better person and a better photographer. I also have been able to connect and meet with local photographers. It was amazing to meet with other people who do the same thing AND have a love of coffee.

Join a group somewhere and get involved! You have no idea what you are missing 🙂
