Hey there! I am Heather. A Richmond local and Sugar Shack Donut enthusiast. This is my little home where I write about long lasting love, foodie locations you HAVE to visit, renovations, and DIY projects.
It’s here!! It’s finally here…which means 1 year down!!!!!!! It was a great year. I have to thank all of my beautiful brides for making my first year an amazing one. I have met so many kind, driven, and special people last year and honestly I feel blessed to be around this type of clientele. My first blog post last year was about my goals.
1. Shoot a wedding out of the country:
-I truly wish someone would get married in Paris, France or Florence, Italy!
2. Book 40 weddings by the end of 2015.
– This is my long term goal and I hope to achieve this (although, I have been known to try to over achieve). I hope to book 40 weddings, regardless when they take place, by 2015. So my weddings could be in 2017, I don’t care, as long as they are
booked!
3. Merge my business from a part time job to my full time job.
– This one is a hard goal because of the economy. Sometimes I am booked up to my neck in photo sessions and sometimes I
have free moments to myself.
As much as I would like to say they have all been accomplished…they haven’t. AND THAT’ OKAY!!! because let me show you what I accomplished in 2014.
In 2013 I had shot 1 wedding! It was my small taste of what I wanted to do and I was already addicted to the thought of being a wedding photographer. 2014 came around and I was a vendor at 4 bridal shows…that was 4 very long Sundays of talking to potential clients and really just having a great time meeting other photographers and vendors.
Before any of these weddings took place I signed up to go to a photography conference called CLIC. I met the best of the best and other photographers who had shot a few weddings and it was the best place for me to learn and hear other peoples experience first hand. I met Katelyn James, Amanda Hedgepeth, and Molly Stillman and they blew me aways with their ideas about photography and blogging.
I met with both Katelyn James and Amanda Hedgepeth separately to really see how they ran their business and balanced their day to day life.
I had 4 amazing weddings to take place at. Now, I would have loved to have 15 weddings this year but I am grateful for the 4 I had…”slow growth is healthy growth” – Zach & Jody
and I did some engagements!!
I had the chance to do bridal portraits
and some headshots!!
My goals for 2015 are still the same…
But I have more….
4. Be published in 10 magazines or blogs
5. Travel
6. Plan 2 styled shoots
Here we go 2015!! Let’s make this year amazing 🙂
