Going Full Time with my Photography Business | Heather Michelle Photography

Hello, hello! Welcome back to the blog and thanks for tuning in. I have a very important and awesome announcement for you…today is my birthday! WHOOPEE, the big 27… I wish I could say that today went down in history and that I partied hard but adult-hood is a real thing, guys. This morning I ran Ben to enterprise and took my car to the body shop. You could say our morning was riveting!

The biggest present to myself is actually the point of the blog today…I’ve gone full time with my photography business! 4 years of hard work has made my business into what it is today and I am finally ready to stand on my own two feet. I am so excited, guys. If I am being honest, the past 6 months or so I had felt that my business wasn’t ever going to get to the point where I felt “ready” or “prepared” for this moment. I tried saving up money so that I could live on if I failed. I was scared…. to the point that it didn’t really make sense anymore.

I remember sitting in my car and talking to myself (yes, I talk to myself in the car. Who doesn’t?) and saying “What is the worst that could happen? Why are you so scared?” It came down to bills and the unknown…which how could I control that? I laughed at myself. I couldn’t control that and it was stopping me.

I have to thank my good friend, Brian for being such a confident and mentor through this process.  I figured if I was going to do this I needed to talk to business owners who are doing the same thing that I am would be my best option. He gave me the confidence I needed to say “I can do this”. I didn’t take the leap of faith by myself though. I was fired from my previous company and it was that action that set all of this into motion.

No one wants anything bad to happen to them but it’s those moments that shape us into who we are today. When it happened, I was ready to make the jump and here I am now. It’s been one month and I’ve been pretty quiet about it. I wanted to see what the month looked like and really get a plan for the year. I am so excited to announce that I am full time and have a lot of plans for the future! Thank you to every sweet couple, awesome friends and family and readers for supporting me. It’s going to be an amazing year for sure!
