Day 1 & 2 | England & Scotland | Heather Michelle Photography

Hello from England!

Ben and I have made it safe and sound and are enjoying fish and chips. REAL fish and chips! We left on Thursday on our 11:30pm flight and landed in England at 10:00am! I will admit, I thought I would have slept more on the plane but I only managed to snag 1.5 hours of sleep….bummer. For any of you who know me, I love to sleep. Ben was a LITTLE more fortunate but was not able to fall asleep for long. I absolutely loved that I could watch newly released movies on the back of the chair in front of me. I watched the Intern and loved it! Who doesn’t love Anne Hathaway 🙂

Well, I will admit the first day was a little rough. We got off the plane VERY slowly and ended up wasting about thirty minutes doing that. We got to customs to an…average line. I don’t know when customs is ever pleasant to go through but if we had gotten off the plane a little faster we could have beaten the crowd a little faster. At this point, we were sweating. We had a 12:30 train ride from Kings Crossing to New Castle. It was 11:30 and we had a 45 minute metro ride, which didn’t leave us much time at all. We ran to the metro and unfortunately it took us 1 hour and 10 minutes to get from the airport to Newcastle…meaning we missed our train!

At this point, Ben and I were sleep deprived, hangry, and desperately in need of caffeine. I was losing it…I seriously was a zombie and my “hanger” was making me less than pleasant to Ben. Sorry, babe! He got us food immediately and we grabbed a soda. All was good in the world at that moment. Luckily, we were able to prove to a train ticket teller that our metro was late and we grabbed the next train to Newcastle.

Leanne picked us up and I quickly have realized how much I LOVE Leanne. We are two peas in a pod. She was so sweet and totally understood that we were on the struggle bus. We ended up going to a really great restaurant where Leanne’s boyfriend, Chris, knows the owner. I ordered the Chicken Breast wrapped in Bacon. It was a GREAT choice!

Today was much better in terms of sleep! We woke up and ate breakfast….bacon! Then we headed out to York for a day trip. We had an absolute blast. I got true loose tea for some of my family and friends. I managed to find the BEST coffee I have ever tasted in my life…it was REVOLUTIONARY! The town was just perfect and really reminded me of Diagon Alley. I also found out that Americans are saying Yorkshire terrier ALL WRONG! It’s pronounced “york-sher” terrier…

Here are a few pictures to document day 2 of our trip….sorry, day 1 was TOO stressful and I didn’t manage to take my camera out. I was also a zombie 🙂

P.S.- This is Tiger, Leanne & Chris’ cat. He is the sweetest thing in the world and even let me take a picture of him.
